Challenge
Olicargo faced several challenges due to the exponential growth of their business, including limitations of their data center, high operating costs and the need for a more resilient and secure data environment.
They needed a more secure, affordable, and robust solution while reducing the time spent managing their infrastructure to lower operating costs.
Solution
Olicargo chose an 'as-is/lift & shift' migration approach to AWS, enabling them to move their existing on-premises infrastructure to the cloud without alterations. This included optimizing EC2 instances, customizing EBS volumes, and implementing site-to-site VPNs to improve connectivity and speed. They also adopted Veeam-On-AWS for data backup and recovery, ensuring robust data protection and disaster recovery capabilities.
Managed Services
Post-migration, Magic Beans provided Olicargo with managed services, including 24x7x365 monitoring, a single point of contact for all issues, and access to a monitoring system without additional costs. They also assisted Olicargo in long-term optimization, managing costs, purchasing strategies, and security enhancements, while keeping them updated with the latest AWS tools and services.
Results and Benefits
The transition to AWS enabled Olicargo to enhance performance and reliability while reducing costs. They adopted microservices, containerization, and serverless computing, improving efficiency, scalability, and reliability. Their security was strengthened, and resource allocation was streamlined, reducing IT costs by about 30%.
